According to Majer Balaban, "Sala modlitewna, przykryta sklepieniem opartem na czterech okrągłych a potężnych filarach, była niegdyś pięknie malowaną. Jeszcze za moich młodszych lat widywałem ślady polichromji, lecz zarząd gminy żydowskiej nie umiał jej uszanować i na kilka lat przed wojną kazał ją przemalować na różowo i ukwiecić jasnymi festonami, coś w rodzaju teatrzyku letniego lub nowoczesnej winiarni." [Prayer hall, covered with a vault supported by four round and mighty pillars, used to be beautifully painted. Even in my younger years I there were traces of polychrome, but the management of the Jewish community did not know how respect it and  several years before the [First World] war had it repainted in pink and decorated with bright festoons, something like a summer theater or modern wine bar.]
