The final two of the ten plagues are enclosed within two square panels framed by burnished gold and red fillets, situated at the top of the page above the text space. The panels flank the passage of the Haggadah relating to Rabbi Yehudah's abbreviations for the ten plagues. The panel on the right encloses a scene of the plague of darkness. Two figures stand against a solid brownish-black background, the figure on the left holding a long rod. The panel on the left encloses a scene of the final plague, the death of the first-born. Five corpses are depicted lyingdiagonally against a ground of unpainted parchment.
