A rectangular panel beneath the text space illustrates the passage above beginning, צא ולמד מה בקש לבן הארמי לעשות ליעקב אבינו, "Come and learn what Laban the Syrian sought to do to Jacob our father." The panel encloses a scene set in an open landscape, of the confrontation between Jacob and Laban, his father-in-law, at Mt. Gilead (Gen. 31:23). In the central foreground, Jacob stands leaning on a staff facing Laban who stands dressed as a warrior, holding a spear with a dagger at his hip. Laban raises his right arm and points towards Jacob's four wives who stand in the background before four open tents (Gen. 31:26). Laban's army stands behind him holding lances and shields beside a bridge crossing a river. Two travellers, one resting on the ground and one standing, can be seen on the far left behind Jacob. In the background on the far left, a shepherd leads a herd of animals and two oxen lie on the ground before them. A curved, ornamental pediment ending in scrolls, which rests on two columns, surrounds the text.
