A rectangular panel beneath the text illustrates the scene of Joseph's brothers beseeching Pharoah to grant them domicile in Goshen, Egypt during the famine in Canaan (Gen, 47:3-4). On the left, the crowned bearded Pharoah sits on his throne, holding his scepter in his left hand. Joseph's brothers, some of them holding shepherd's staves, stand before him. Behind them is a herd of animals. A city and three tents stand in the background on the right. Above this panel, a small square panel on the right of the text space encloses the initial letter, "Vav," commencing the passage, ובזרוע נטויה ... וחרבו שלופה בידו נטויה על ירושלים, "And with an outstretched arm ... and a drawn sword in his hand outstretched over Jerusalem" (I Chron. 21:16). An angel emerging from a cloud hovers over the letter which is executed in spared ground technique. Beneath him is the city of Jerusalem with a round domed building at the center, possibly representing the Temple.
