A rectangular panel beneath the empty text space, encloses a scene of Abraham's meeting with Malchizedek, the king of Salem, after the victorious battle of Abraham and the five kings against the four kings (Gen. 14:17). Abraham is bearded and wears a long robe and a sword by his side. He is followed by Lot's family, including women and children on the far right, and is accompanied by soldiers who walk beside him. On the left of the scene, facing Abraham and his entourage, are King Malchizedek and the king of Sodom (one of the five kings), whose goods Abraham redeemed during the battle. Malchizedek, who was also a high priest, wears a mitre and holds out a goblet of wine and a loaf of bread to Abraham. Behind them stands another man wearing a hat. A basket of bread and two jugs of wine rest on a table covered with a cloth on the far left. A personified sun can be seen in the sky in the background between the two groups, above a complex of buildings.
