Marking the beginning of Psalm 113, a crowned, dragon-like grotesque, incorporated in a foliate stem is set vertically in the inner margin. It holds a sword in its left paw and a shield against its body while its head protrudes into the text column. Another grotesque wearing a hat marks the beginning of Psalm 114. It holds a club in its left hand and a small round shield in its right and is incorporated within a foliate stem set vertically between the first and second text columns. Both grotesques possibly relate to verse 2 of Psalm 113 which reads, גבור בארץ יהיה זרעו, "His seed shall be mighty upon earth." A dog-headed grotesque cloaked by a leaf incorporated within a foliate stem, is set vertically between the second and third text columns. A bird-headed grotesque is set below the foliate stem and touches its bottom tip with its beak. The grotesques mark the beginning of Psalm 115. Inverted linked arches descend from the bottom line of the micrographic massoretic text in the upper margin.
