The cylindrical Torah case consists of a body and a crown, covered with a blue cloth.
The case opens in the center, forming two halves and closed in its front by two hook clasps.
The upper border of the body is surmounted by a vertical lily-like crenellation alternating with red beads.
The upper and the lower edges of the body are encircled by silver friezes bearing dedicatory inscriptions. The inscriptions are written in square filled letters read from right to left. In the upper frieze it reads:
"תיק זה וס''ת (וספר תורה) שבו הקדישו היקר ראובן היו' (ה' יחיהו וישמרו) לעילוי : ולמ' מור (למנוחת מורו) אביו המ' (המרוחם) אהרון ח' (חכם) משה מרדכי גבאי נע' (נוחו עדן) "
Translation: This case and Torah scroll inside it were dedicated by the dear Rueben may the Lord sustain and protect him, for the exaltation of the soul and for the repose of his teacher, his farther the pitted wise Aaron Moshe Mordechai, the Gabai, may he rest in Eden.
It continues in the lower frieze:
"בחו' (חודש) אב שנת התרנ'ה והיתה מנוחתו בעיר פריס ביום ה' כא' לחו' (חודש) אב בשנת התרנ'ד ת.נ.צ.ב.ה (תהי נשמתו צרורה בצרור החיים)"
Translation: on the month Ab, the year (5)655 = 1895 and he died in Paris on Thursday, 21 of the month Ab, the year (5)654 = 11.8.1894, may his soul be bound up in the bond of life
The openings of the case are covered with narrow silver frieze, decorated with flowers.
The crown consists of a main section, a crest and an apex.
The dome-shaped main section is covered with a cloth, as a body.
The undulating silver crest comprises an elongated cut-cone lower part separated from an onion-shaped upper part by a compressed globe. The lower part is decorated with ovals, bearing flowers. The upper part depicts the same pattern in semi-ovals, radiating from the bottom.
The compressed globe, flanked by two small narrow rings, is decorated with wavy slices.
A bud-like apex is mounted over the crest.
Two bars for finials are attached to both sides of the crown.
The inner face of the body is plain wood.
The interior surface of the crown bears dedicatory plaques following the shape of the main section. The plaques are decorated with verses. The inscription is written in square filled letters in five lines on both sides, starting on the right and continuing to the left. It reads:
"זאת/
התורה אשר/
שם משה לפני בני ישר' (ישראל)/
אלה העדת והחקים והמ' (משפטים)/
אשר דבר משה אל בני/
ישראל/
בצאת ממצרים (דברים ד מד-מה)/
בשנת ובסדר/
ברוך תהיה מכל/
העמים לפ'ג (פרט גדול) ליצירה"/
Translation: And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel. These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt. (Deut. 4:44,45) ??? Thou shalt be blessed above all people (Deut. 7:14), (5)655=1895 to the creation” (the date is derived from the inscription)
An arch of flowers frames the inscription.
