Upper margin: The bearded Wise Son standing with an explanatory gesture.
Inscribed:
חכם אחד מארבעה בנים/ שואל בהלכות פסח דבריו כנים
“The wise son, one of the Four Sons, asks about the Passover laws, and his words are true.”
Lower margin: Pharaoh sitting at table with his crowned daughter and a magician. On his left the young Moses holds the crown just taken off Pharaoh’s head. To the left is a jar. Two lions at the foot of the table.
Inscribed near Pharaoh:
הנער לעיני כל החרטומים והשרים/ הכתר מעל ראש פרעה הרים
“The boy, before all the magicians and councilors took the crown off Pharaoh’s head.”
Near the councilors:
אמר בלעם הקוסם ובעלי הנחשים/ הנער הכתר על ראשו ישים
“Balaam the sorcerer and the magicians said: ‘the boy will put the crown on his head’.”
