20 Description The undulating Torah finial consists of a shaft, a body, a head and an apex. The tapering cylindrical shaft is smooth and is encircled at the bottom by a ring.##The undulating body is composed of a bowl shaped base decorated with vertical leaves that radiate from the center. The base is surmounted by a compressed convex unit which bears six medallions on each finial. The medallions depict: Noah's Ark as a boat-house, a goat, a deer, an elephant, a lion, and a fish. All the animals face the left. A concave unit surmounts the bottom, is composed of an openwork weave that creates cartouches decorated with flowers and leaves in the center. A stepped dome surmounts the unit. It is encircled by strips, the top of which is decorated with leaves. Hooks for bells are attached to the top and bottom parts of the body. ## A crown shaped head is mounted over the body. It is composed of six arms in the shape of acanthus leaves. A floral circlet tops the head and bears a bird shaped apex.

Five hallmarks are stamped on the object, part of them stamped twice.
1. The hallmark depicts a cross with dots on both sides within a rectangular cut angle frame.
It is a city mark from the 1890'2 of an unidentified city, probably Odessa.
Cf. Postnikova-Losseva, p.258, no. 3858.

This is a hallmark of the region of Herson in the Ukraine in the end of the 19th century.
Cf. Postnikova-Losseva, p. 255, no. 3781.
The cypher 84 is a Russian quality mark in the 18-19th c. Cf Postnikova-Losseva, p.148, no.12.
3. The hallmark depicts the Cyrillic initials: "I.SH"(in lat.) surmounting the date 1891, in a square frame. It is the assay halmark of Shmidetzki Josef Alexandrovich active in 1891 in unidentified city.
Cf. Postnikova-Losseva, p.258, no.3859
4. The hallmark depicts the Cyrillic initials: "M.B" (in lat.). This is a hallmark of an unknown artist.
Cf. Postnikova-Losseva, p.258, no. 3862.

20 Description Two facing full-page panels consisting of an array of the various Sanctuary Implements placed on alternating purple and blue chequered rectangular compartments. The Implements are listed horizontally from right to left and top to bottom. In the upper right compartment of fol.11v is the Menorah with its tongs snuffdishes and two stones~. Below the Menorah is the jar of manna flanked by Aaron's flowering rod and Moses' barren rod. In the upper left compartment is the Ark of Covenant with the Tablets, topped by the two Cherubim. Below the Ark is the Shewbread Table topped by two spoons of frankincense. The biblical verses (Num. 8:4; Ex. 25:34) surrounding the panel in display script, allude to the making of the Menorah. (See following cards). The second full-page panel on fol. 12 consists of Implements placed on alternating purple and blue chequered rectangular compartments. In the upper right compartment is the Golden Altar of Incense. In the upper left compartment is the Altar of Sacrifice with its leaning ramp. In the middle right compartment are two trumpets above a shofar. In the middle left compartment is the Laver on its stand. In the lower right compartment, arranged vertically, are two pots and four basins. In the lower left compartment are two shovels two flesh hooks and a firepan. The text surrounding the panel was partly taken from the Seder Avodah (The Order of Offering) of the Mussaf prayer of the Day of Atonement and partly an addition which was either composed by the scribe or was customary at the time, wishing for the rebuilding of the Temple. It is written in display script. (see following cards)
