20 Description The southern and western bands framing the nave mosaic pavement consist of a row of poised squares linked by strips which form symmetric trapezoids. The poised squares in the southern band contain the following (from west to east): a lozenge in a square surrounded by four flower buds; a tree with three pomegranates; a hen followed by four chicks; a lozenge in a square surrounded by four flower buds. Western band from south to north: a cluster of grapes; a square centred by a lozenge surrounded by four flower buds; a plate with fruit: grapes, and pomegranate, figs or pears, and a citron (etrog); a square with a poised square in the middle ; a bunch of grapes; a deep basket filled with grapes, a pomegranate and a fig; a square with a poised square in the middle.

The poised squares in the southern band contain the following (from west to east): a lozenge in a square surrounded by four flower buds; a tree with three pomegranates; a hen followed by four chicks; a lozenge in a square surrounded by four flower buds. Western band from south to north: a cluster of grapes; a square centred by a lozenge surrounded by four flower buds; a plate with fruit: grapes, and pomegranate, figs or pears, and a citron (etrog); a square with a poised square in the middle ; a bunch of grapes; a deep basket filled with grapes, a pomegranate and a fig; a square with a poised square in the middle.

20 Description The eastern band framing the mosaic of the nave is composed of twelve inhabited medallions which are formed by vine-scrolls. The medallions are inhabited by human figures, animals and verious objects as follows (from north-east to south-east): a small bird, a four-legged animal, three vertical conical objects, a hare biting a grape off a bunch, a damaged depiction of the head and tail of an animal, the bust of a man holding a bird, a pheasant, a four-legged animal (fox?), a basket filled with round fruit and a hare bitting a grape from the vine. All the animals are depicted in profile, facing north.

The seventh medallion from the north-east corner was severely damaged; no restoration can be seen.

20 Description The eastern band framing the mosaic of the nave is composed of twelve inhabited medallions which are formed by vine-scrolls. The medallions are inhabited by human figures, animals and verious objects as follows (from north-east to south-east): a small bird, a four-legged animal, three vertical conical objects, a hare biting a grape off a bunch, a damaged depiction of the head and tail of an animal, the bust of a man holding a bird, a pheasant, a four-legged animal (fox?), a basket filled with round fruit and a hare bitting a grape from the vine. All the animals are depicted in profile, facing north.

20 Description The eastern band framing the mosaic of the nave is composed of twelve inhabited medallions which are formed by vine-scrolls. The medallions are inhabited by human figures, animals and verious objects as follows (from north-east to south-east): a small bird, a four-legged animal, three vertical conical objects, a hare biting a grape off a bunch, a damaged depiction of the head and tail of an animal, the bust of a man holding a bird, a pheasant, a four-legged animal (fox?), a basket filled with round fruit and a hare bitting a grape from the vine. All the animals are depicted in profile, facing north.

The density of tesserae per 10cm2 is uniform in all elements, figurative, vegetal and geometric, 9x9 9x10.
The colours of the tesserae, besides white and black, are one or two shades of grey, brick red, wine red, light brown, dark brown and ochre yellow.

20 Description The representation of Winter is enclosed within the upper right spandrel of the zodiac wheel panel, over the signs of Taurus and Gemini. It depicts the frontal bust of a winged female. Inscribed in Hebrew on the left edge of the panel: תקופת טבת "The season of Tevet". The female wears long earrings and a necklace, her dress is decorated on both sides by a long string ending in a circle. Above the right wing two leaves can be seen and to their right a goblet. A pair of leaves is at the bottom of each wing.
