Description

The memorial is situated near the Hechal Yahaduth Wolyn (Palace of Volhynian Jewry) (built in 1965-1967 by architect Israel Lotan), on the southern side of the building, near the entrance.

The memorial is a combination of two stone walls. A vertical wall includes a reproduction of a pencil self-portrait by Alexander Bogen, an artist and a partisan in the Vilna Ghetto. The self-portrait shows Bogen with a gun, returning from a military task in 1943 and bears his signature.

The horizontal wall bears the text of the Partisan Song, written by Hirsh Glick, also in the Vilna Ghetto. The song is given in the Yiddish original and Hebrew and English translations. The Hebrew translation is by Avraham Shlonsky. The name of the translator into English is not indicated, but it seems that the translation was copied from the memorial book for the community of Melnitza in Volhynia, edited by Joshua Lior (Tel Aviv, 1994) and probably was made by him (page 10 of the English section).

A stone with the information on the memorial stands near the entrance to the Hechal Yahaduth Wolyn.

Translation: This place of remembrance was erected by the donations of the partisans from Kamin-Kashyrskyi [Kamień Koszyrski in Polish]: Klorman Shmuel Abba of blessed memory and his spouse Zisl (may she live long), Zarutzki Yeshayahu of blessed memory and his spouse Ruzhka (may she live long), Sokol Aharon and Fredl of blessed memory. And with the support of the municipality of Givatayim, the Association of Volhynian Jews in Israel, partisans and fighters from Volhynia.
Planning: sculptor and designer Ayelet Beitan Shlonsky, architect Michael Alkov.
In homage to Avraham Biber for his work in commemoration of the partisans from Volhynia.
