20 Description The cylindrical alms box is composed of a receptacle, a cover and handles. The receptacle has a round raised base with acanthus like leaves around it.The smooth receptacle bears a foliate medallion on front and back with a dedicatory inscription in the center, in square filled letters which reads on front: "נעשה מקופת/הצדקה דח"ק )דחברה קדישא(/ב"ח? וגמ"ח )וגמילות חסדים( דק"ק )דקהילת קודש(/יאנאוויטץ" "Made from the alms box of the burial society and benevolant society of the holy community of yanavitch". The inscription continues in the medallion on the back of the receptacle and reads: "ע"י )על ידי( כ"ה )כבוד הרב(/וואלף גוט/ג"צ )גבאי צדקה( ו'צדק'ה/ת'צ'יל ממו'ת/לפ"ק )לפרט קטן(" "By the honourable Rabbi Wolf Gutt sexton of charity...righteousness delivereth from death (Prov. 10;2)(=[5]592=(1832))". The cover bears the same foliate pattern as the base and has a trapezoid unit for coins in the center. There are ear shaped handles on either side of the receptacle.

The receptacle has a round raised base with acanthus like leaves around it.The smooth receptacle bears a foliate medallion on front and back with a dedicatory inscription in the center, in square filled letters which reads on front: "נעשה מקופת/הצדקה דח"ק )דחברה קדישא(/ב"ח? וגמ"ח )וגמילות חסדים( דק"ק )דקהילת קודש(/יאנאוויטץ" "Made from the alms box of the burial society and benevolant society of the holy community of yanavitch". The inscription continues in the medallion on the back of the receptacle and reads: "ע"י )על ידי( כ"ה )כבוד הרב(/וואלף גוט/ג"צ )גבאי צדקה( ו'צדק'ה/ת'צ'יל ממו'ת/לפ"ק )לפרט קטן(" "By the honourable Rabbi Wolf Gutt sexton of charity...righteousness delivereth from death (Prov. 10;2)(=[5]592=(1832))". The cover bears the same foliate pattern as the base and has a trapezoid unit for coins in the center. There are ear shaped handles on either side of the receptacle.

:HS : There are two Hallmarks on the base of the object:1. The hallmark depicts the cypher 13 in a circle flanked by the cyphers 1840 in an arched frame surmounted by the letter B. This is a Austro- Hungarian authority mark used between 1816-1861. The letter B indicates the city of Prague. cf Tardy, p.398. 2. The letters TH in an oval frame. This is the mark of Thomas Hopfel who was active between 1815-1847. cf Hrasky, p.140,no.160.

The receptacle has a round raised base with acanthus like leaves around it.The smooth receptacle bears a foliate medallion on front and back with a dedicatory inscription in the center, in square filled letters which reads on front: "נעשה מקופת/הצדקה דח"ק )דחברה קדישא(/ב"ח? וגמ"ח )וגמילות חסדים( דק"ק )דקהילת קודש(/יאנאוויטץ" "Made from the alms box of the burial society and benevolant society of the holy community of yanavitch". The inscription continues in the medallion on the back of the receptacle and reads: "ע"י )על ידי( כ"ה )כבוד הרב(/וואלף גוט/ג"צ )גבאי צדקה( ו'צדק'ה/ת'צ'יל ממו'ת/לפ"ק )לפרט קטן(" "By the honourable Rabbi Wolf Gutt sexton of charity...righteousness delivereth from death (Prov. 10;2)(=[5]592=(1832))". The cover bears the same foliate pattern as the base and has a trapezoid unit for coins in the center. There are ear shaped handles on either side of the receptacle.

20 Description The cylindrical alms box is composed of a receptacle, a cover and handles. The receptacle has a round raised base with acanthus like leaves around it.The smooth receptacle bears a foliate medallion on front and back with a dedicatory inscription in the center, in square filled letters which reads on front: "נעשה מקופת/הצדקה דח"ק )דחברה קדישא(/ב"ח? וגמ"ח )וגמילות חסדים( דק"ק )דקהילת קודש(/יאנאוויטץ" "Made from the alms box of the burial society and benevolant society of the holy community of yanavitch". The inscription continues in the medallion on the back of the receptacle and reads: "ע"י )על ידי( כ"ה )כבוד הרב(/וואלף גוט/ג"צ )גבאי צדקה( ו'צדק'ה/ת'צ'יל ממו'ת/לפ"ק )לפרט קטן(" "By the honourable Rabbi Wolf Gutt sexton of charity...righteousness delivereth from death (Prov. 10;2)(=[5]592=(1832))". The cover bears the same foliate pattern as the base and has a trapezoid unit for coins in the center. There are ear shaped handles on either side of the receptacle.
