This is a lower part of a tombstone, combined of three pieces. It is surmounted on a concrete base.
The inscription in the sunken letters reads:
??? זדר ???
מא"גורר ז"ל ונפ'
יום ב' כ"ג טבת
נ'ב'ת' [=נפשו בעדן תנוח]
???? zadar ???
from Agorar (?), of blessed memory, and passed away
Monday, 23 of Shvat
The year ????
His soul in Eden will rest
The Croatian inscription on the base reads: "Iz Hvara god 1934" (From Hvar, the year 1934).
This means that the stone was found on the Hvar and brought to Split in 1934. A facet of the tombstone is see on the photograph of another tombstone, made by Zusia Efron in the Jewish cemetery of Split in 1964 (See ID 26584).
