A pewter plate for Purim with work that is among the very finest known. There is another example from the same hand, one year different in the date, in the Israel Museum and two others are known from around the same date. The recorded owners are a couple from the town of Asbach, the home of a small Jewish community.
Asbach is a small municipality in the district of Neuwied, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated in the Westerwald, approx. 25 km north of Neuwied, and 25 km south-east of Bonn. Inscription: The distinguished and prominent, the Rabbi Reb Zanvil and his Wife Mrs. Blimele from Asbach
