The synagogue was built in the middle of 17th century. The murals was made in 1714. The dates of restoration of synagogue and the wall paintings: 1895, 1905, 193, 1938-39. (Piechotka, M., & K. Piechotka, Bramy Nieba: Bóznice drewniane na ziemiach dzwnei Rzeczypospolitej,182)

The bulk of the building with prayer hall is almost square in plan (12x12,7), covered with a high combined double roof. Two galleries are connected to the building from the west façade. Women's section is adjacent to the prayer hall from the north and south sides. The shape of the building are changed after the last restoration in the 1938-39.

The prayer hall was covered by stepped barrel vault.

The height of the walls of the prayer hall – 7m. The height of the vault – 10,5m.

Composition from the north.

The bear holding the blooming tree are depicted in an ornamental arch. Two unicorns supported the arch. Image of predator (foxes) kidnapping small animals from the herd is painted from the right sides of the arch. Image of the predatory bird kidnapping small bird from the flock is painted from the right sides of the arch.

At the two lower levels of the vault are depicted certain motifs framed by cartouches and circular medallions.

Cartouche from the left: elephant with a tower on the back surrounded by four storks.

Cartouche from the right: bird of prey torments small animal surrounded by bears climbing a tree

Camel and turkey are depicted in lower medallions.

Composition from the south.

Lion and the unicorn in the composition "combat" are depicted in ornamental arch. Vase of flowers stand between the legs of the animals. Two beast supported the arch. Predators bearing in teeth small animals are depicted on both sides of the arch.

Two grotesque animals supported medallion with inscription from the right.

The inscription:

20 Description

The vault and the walls are painted by two different decoration schemes.

The vault decoration is designed as a centrally - symmetric composition. In the center of the arch is depicted two-headed heraldic eagle framed by a number of decorative concentric circles. One of the circles bears an inscription.

The twelve signs of the zodiac, situated in round medallions, were located around the framed heraldic eagle. Each of the medallion bears an inscription correlated to the zodiac sign. The images of 'three hare running in circles, from the east, and the image of three interlaced fish, from the west, were connected to the zodiacs circle. The both images were situated in a round medallions.   

Two symmetrical composition are placed from the north and the south of the central images.
