This picture captures the rear side of the synagogue and the octagonal central bimah. The prayer hall is spanned with a wooden barrel vault shouldered by longitudinal horizontal facets; the barrel vault spanning the women’s gallery is broader than that of the hall. The wooden supports of the women’s gallery are decorated with traditional Lithuanian carved patterns, while the partition is painted with varied hanging musical instruments referring to Ps. 137:1–2. The western wall of this synagogue, at least in its upper tier, is pierced with basket-headed windows.
