Jewish Architecture Kupa Synagogue in Kraków – Western wall of the prayer hall
To the main object: Kupa Synagogue in Kraków – Interior before the restoration
The western wall of the prayer hall features three paintings arranged in a line: an illustration to Psalm 137:1-3 depicting people walking beside the rivers of Babylon; another Biblical scene depicting Noah's Ark and the figure of Noah himself; and a panoramic view of Jerusalem. It should be noted that images of human figures are extremely rare in synagogue decoration. The prayer hall also includes a partially-preserved architectural decoration in the form of tall Corinthian columns with a complicated cornice.
