20 Description The white cotton Torah^Binder is a long narrow cloth composed of four pieces. The cloth bears inscriptions and an illustration painted in blue, orange, pink, yellow, black, and green. The inscription is painted in square filled letters. The wide horizontal segments of most letters are divided diagonally, resulting in two triangular areas painted in separate colors. The inscription reads: !אלכסנדר כ!ה )כבוד הרב( אברהם זימאן נולד ביום ב' י' כסלב תרס לפ!ק ה' יגדלהו לתורה לחופה ולמעשים טובים אמן סלה.! !Alexander (son of) the honorable Rabbi Abraham Simon, born Monday, the tenth of Kislev, (5)660 (November 12, 1899). May God raise him to the Torah, to the Hupah, and to good deeds. Amen selah.! Beneath the words !the honorable Rabbi Abraham,! is a German inscription written in black cursive letters, reading: !Siegfried Simon, yeb. den 12 November 1899.! !Siegfried Simon, born November 12, 1899.! Between the words !to the Torah! and !to the Hupah! are illustrated in pink the two Tables of the Law, upon which are inscribed the intitial words of the Ten Commandments. Above and below the Tables, respectively, are painted the words: !כתר תורה! !Crown of Torah!
