20 Description Marking the beginning of Psalm 72, a long-beaked bird hovers over a serpent-like grotesque in the inner margin. Each of them bites either end of a leaf while a foliate stem extends upwards from the bird's head. Two confronting cocks with extended necks, are enclosed within a polygonal panel set in the lower third of the outer text column between Psalms 72 and 73. Four golden roundels decorate the panel's corners. The panel is flanked on the right by an animal-headed grotesque suspended from a foliate stem, crowning a female grotesque below. These figures probably refer to verse 15 of the psalm which reads, ויתן לו מזהב שבא, "And to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba." On the left, the panel is flanked by an animal-headed grotesque suspended from a foliate stem, holding a sickle above the head of another grotesque. Foliate stems descend from both of the lower grotesques culminating in a roundel enclosing a floral motif, beneath the text column. Two leaves link both roundels.

A long-haired man blowing a long trumpet or horn, is incorporated in a foliate stem set vertically between the second and third text columns. A curved bird bites the top of the stem above the man's head. Together they mark the beginning of Psalm 82 and probably refer to verse 4 which reads, תקעו בחדש שופר, "Blow up the trumpet."

20 Description Marking the beginning of Psalm 94, the bust of a multi-colored buck with antlers is incorporated within a foliate stem set vertically in the outer margin. Crossed leaves grow from the tips of its antlers. The buck possibly refers to verse 10 of the previous Psalm which reads, ותרם כראם קרני, "But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn." A grotesque with the head of a cat and the body of a bird, is perched on an elaborate foliate stem which extends vertically between the first and second text columns. It holds a shofar in its left paw and a leaf is perched on its nose. The grotesque marks the beginning of Psalm 95. A fish with a leaf extending from its mouth into the text column, is incorporated within a foliate stem set vertically between the second and third text columns. It marks the beginning of Psalm 96. The micrographic massoretic text in the upper margin incorporates linked arches while the micrography in the lower margin incorporates two sets of concentric arches.

20 Description Marking the beginning of Psalm 113, a crowned, dragon-like grotesque, incorporated in a foliate stem is set vertically in the inner margin. It holds a sword in its left paw and a shield against its body while its head protrudes into the text column. Another grotesque wearing a hat marks the beginning of Psalm 114. It holds a club in its left hand and a small round shield in its right and is incorporated within a foliate stem set vertically between the first and second text columns. Both grotesques possibly relate to verse 2 of Psalm 113 which reads, גבור בארץ יהיה זרעו, "His seed shall be mighty upon earth." A dog-headed grotesque cloaked by a leaf incorporated within a foliate stem, is set vertically between the second and third text columns. A bird-headed grotesque is set below the foliate stem and touches its bottom tip with its beak. The grotesques mark the beginning of Psalm 115. Inverted linked arches descend from the bottom line of the micrographic massoretic text in the upper margin.

20 Description Marking Psalm 116, a multi-colored bird with a leaf tail hovers between the first and second textcolumns. A foliate stem emerges from its raised beak. The stem incorporates a vessel and encloses the psalm number. A bird with its neck caught in a jar is set vertically within a foliate stem between the second and third text columns. The bird marks the beginning of Psalm 117 and possibly relates to verse 3 of Psalm 116 which reads, אפפוני חבלי-מות ומצרי שאול מצאוני, "The sorrows of death compassed me and the pains of hell got hold of me." Alternatively, the bird may relate to verse 16 of Psalm 116 which reads, אני עבדך בן אמתך פתחת למוסרי, "I am thy servant and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds."

20 Description Marking the beginning of Psalm 125, a hybrid with a human head and the body of a bird rests on a foliate stem set vertically at the top of the inner margin. Its face is raised upwards and a leaf extends from its mouth. A bird with a leaf perched on the tip of its beak rests on a foliate stem set vertically at the bottom of the inner margin. It marks the beginning of Psalm 126. A grotesque bird-like figure is set vertically in the upper part of the space between the first and second text columns. A snake-head appears to emerge from the top and bottom of the body of the grotesque. A leaf emerges from the mouth of the top snake while a more elaborate foliate motif emerges from the mouth of the lower snake. Together they mark the beginning of Psalm 127. A multi-colored cock with two leaves emerging from its beak is perched on a foliate motif set vertically at the bottom of the space between the first and second text columns. It marks the beginning of Psalm 128 and possibly refers to verse 4 which reads, הנה כי כן יברך גבר, "Behold that thus shall the man be blessed," as the Hebrew word, גבר, ("man") also means cock in English. A hybrid with the body of a man and a hoofed leg, is incorporated within a multi-colored foliate stem set vertically in the upper part of the space between the second and third text columns. The man wears a scholarly hat and a gold-dotted blue robe. A bird with a u-shaped body perches on a leaf which rests on the man's hat. Together they mark the beginning of Psalm 129. Marking the beginning of Psalm 130, a monkey-like creature wearing a sailor's cap is set vertically at the bottom of the space between the second and third text columns. Its body is hidden by a pink garment beneath a short yellowish cape. A leaf emerges from the creature's mouth and extends into the text column while another leaf extends from behind its hat and from its toes.

20 Description The initial word for the Book of Ruth, ויהי, is written in bold letters of burnished gold within a rectangular panel located in the upper part of the first two text columns. The blue ground of the panel is diapered with small circles and stars. Elaborate, multi-colored, foliate motifs form a border around the top and right sides of the panel while a simpler foliate motif descends from a stem on the left side. A medallion framed by foliage in the center of the panel's upper border, encloses a human figure set against a blue ground. His body is covered in fur, and he wears a pointed red hat and a short, red skirt. He shoots an arrow from a bow held in his left hand. Two confronting red and pink cocks are perched on the top half of the medallion. A winged, grotesque figure, emerges from the upper left corner of the foliate border.

20 Description The initial word for the pericope Ha'azinu, האזינו, is written in large, bold letters within a panel of interlaced, scrolling, red penwork in the top part of the inner text column. Blue dots are interspersed within the penwork. Tendrils ascend and descend from the right side of the panel. A foliate stem descends from the left side of the panel in the inter-columnar space, merging with a vertical micrographic inscription of the massorah. The micrography outlines the vocalizer's colophon and a running scalloped pattern. Massoretic text shaped in concentric circles is set at the center of the top and bottom margins within straight lines ending in a running triangular pattern. Beneath the foliation in the outer margin, the outline of a regardant dragon encloses an unidentified inscription.

20 Description Marking the beginning of Psalm 66, a long-haired man holding two spears surmounts a foliate stem set vertically in the inner margin. A short dragon-headed grotesque with a leaf tail is set between the bottom lines of the first and second columns. It holds in its mouth a multi-colored foliate stem which extends upwards between the text columns. The grotesque marks the beginning of Psalm 67. Marking the beginning of Psalm 68, a rodent with a scaley orange body is incorporated within a foliate stem set vertically between the second and third text columns. In its paw it holds a leaf which extends into the text column. Concentric arches decorate the micrographic massoretic text in the uppper and lower margins.

A foliate stem enclosing the number for Psalm 65 is set vertically between the first and second text columns.

20 Description Marking the beginning of Psalm 55, a bear head blowing a shofar emerges from a foliate stem in the outer margin. A cock is perched on a leaf set at the center of the bear head. The figures possibly refer to the opening verse and verse 7 which read, למנצח בנגינות; מי יתן לי אבר כיונה, "To the chief Musician on Neginoth"; "Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest." A human head wearing a hooded garment is set vertically within a foliate stem between the second and third text columns. An overturned shofar with a leaf emerging from its end, extends from beneath the figure's chin into the adjacent text column. The figure marks the beginning of Psalm 56.

A multi-colored fish with a leaf tail which curves around the number marking Psalm 47 is set vertically between the first and second text columns. The leaf tail extends downwards, wrapping around a pole. Additional leaves are set on the fish's face and wrapped around its middle. A long-necked bird grotesque with a leaf rising from its beak is perched on a foliate stem set vertically between the second and third text columns. Another bird with a leaf on its beak is perched on the leaf above the grotesque. They mark the beginning of Psalm 48. The micrographic massoretic text in the upper and lower margins is decorated by concentric arches.

20 Description A polygonal panel set within the lower lines of the outer text column separates Psalms 41 and 42. The panel encloses multi-colored scrolled foliate motifs on a blue ground. Burnished gold disks are set at the points of the polygon. A human-faced grotesque incorporated within an extending, foliate stem is set vertically in the outer margin. He wears a long hooded hat and points at another grotesque set in the inter-columnar space opposite him. The second grotesque, also incorporated within a vertical, foliate stem, points back at the first while turning his head away from him. Two leaves crossing at the tips connect the vertical stems below the outer text column. The figures possibly relate to verse 7 of Psalm 41 which reads, יחד עלי יתלחשו כל שנאי, "All that hate me whisper together against me." A multi-colored foliate stem is set vertically between the first and second text columns.

20 Description Marking the beginning of Psalm 36, a bearded, long-haired man with a long curving neck emerges from a foliate stem set vertically in the outer margin. He holds a feathery leaf which extends into the text space, and a bird hovers over him pecking at his right eye. The vertical stem ends in a grotesque. The figure possibly refers to verse 2 which reads, כי החליק אליו בעיניו, "For he flattereth himself in his own eyes." A dragon-like grotesque is set horizontally in the top of the middle text column marking the beginning of Psalm 37. Two multi-colored foliate stems branch out of his mouth, extending vertically between the first and second text columns. Concentric circles are set at the center of the micrographic massoretic text in the upper and lower margins.
