The tribe of Dan is represented by a serpent, according to Gen. 49:17: "Dan will be a snake by the roadside, a viper along the path, that bites the horse’s heels so that its rider tumbles backward."

The tribe of Naphtali is represented by a doe running through a forest, according to Gen. 49:21: "Naphtali is a doe set free that bears beautiful fawns."

The tribe of Gad is perpesented by a banner symbolizing troops or a camp, according to Gen. 49:19: "Gadi will be attacked by a band of raiders, but he will attack them at their heels."

The tribe of Asher is represented by a badly preserved olive branch, according to Deut. 33:24: "Most blessed of sons is Asher; let him be favored by his brothers, and let him bathe his feet in oil."
