20 Description A bird in a cage occupies the central medallion of the ninth row of the nave panel. The bird stands in the center of the cage and is depicted in profile facing right. Its long tail hangs down. The arch-shaped cage is formed of seven bars connected at the top by a ring. Two short bars project from the ring in a v shape. The bottom of the cage is composed of a trapezoidal band decorated with a series of parallel diagonal lines. A conical object is attached to the right side of the cage.

MAT : The limestone tesserae are arranged in curved lines to form the shape and shading of the motif. The cage is outlined by one line of brown tesserae. One line of background tesserae surrounds the cage and two to three lines follow the medallion frame. The density per 10cm2 is fairly uniform with a density of 10x11 for the motif and 10x10 for the background. The colors of the tesserae are off-white, black, brown, grey, dark and light pink.
