20 Description

The silver Torah shield is rectangular and terminates with a semi-circular arch. It consists of a plate.

The Tables of the Covenant are depicted in the center and are inscribed with the opening words of the ten commandments. The tablets are flanked by two griffins rampant and surmounted by a crown.

An inscription over the crown in square filled letters reads: "כתר תורה"

A blank rectangular movable plaque is located below, it is framed by a repeating scroll pattern.

Below the plaque is the first word of the dedicatory inscription, the square filled letters read: "זה" "This". The dedicatory inscription is continued on the oval cartouche below, the square filled letters read:

"הציץ##שייך לחבורא##שומרים לבוקר##דפה ייאלי סאוועט"##

"ziz belongs to the society of watchers till the morning,  Yelesaviet"

It is flanked by two lions rampant regardant who each raise a claw to form a frame for the first word of the inscription.

Two ionic-corinthian pillars wrapped in a flowered vine flank the composition.

Under the base of the columns is a flower.

A row of foliage is located at the base of the shield.

A spread-winged eagle is located in the arch, it surmounts the shield and grasps a branch in its claws.
