20 Description The silver Torah shield is rectangular and terminates with an arch. It consists of a plate. In the center are depicted the Tablets of the Covenant inscribed with the opening words of the Decalouge, five on each side. The tables are flanked by the figures of Aaron on right and of Moses on left (12508). A surmounting crown is topped by a palmette band. Below the Tablets is a cartouche inscribed with a dedicatory inscription written in square filled letters, it reads: "לפרט ## פתוחי חתם תפתח ## את שתי האבנים ## ל"## "The two stones should be engraved like the engravings of a signet" (based on Ex. 28:36) A flower extends downwards from each of the bottom corners of the cartouche. Two flanking spiral columns have square bases with a tablet flower and acanthus capitals The shield is framed by an inner beaded band and an outer scalloped band. There are three holes for a hanging chain, located at each upper corner and at the top of the arch.
