Fol. 42: On the right, a silk-worker wearing a long robe and a hat, with a satchel across his body, is leading a loaded donkey with his right hand, and holding a whip in his left. Behind the donkey and touching its hindquarters is a poor scribe in a short tunic facing the worker. The caption above: "Image of the man greeting the worker ‘who has come hither’" (II Sam. 7:18 and I Chr. 17:16; צורת האיש שואל ע(א)ל העובד לשלום, ובא עד הלום; Loewe 2004, II:335). Originally the figure on the right was drawn as a woman as can be seen from her dress, right breast and close-fitting headgear. Since the story is about two men, Abraham (Scribe A) changed her into a man by adding a moustache, a larger hat, a satchel and a whip in brown ink as well as changing the sleeves, effacing the breast with lines and adding the iris to the former down-cast eyes.
