Vol. I, fol. 37: The initial word "Nation" (אום; Davidson, Thesaurus,א 1830) opening the yozer for Shabbat Parah is written by scribe A in display script (height: 78 mm.; 7.5 lines) and decorated by scribe B in spared-ground technique on an alternating red and blue ground with the following motifs: acanthus scrolls and a lion mask in the letter alef (א), a winged dragon in the roof of the letter vav (ו) and in the final mem (ם) a snake and a hound biting a deer. Some spared-ground motifs are partially coloured in red and blue.
