20 Description The drawing shows a young jewess. She is represented full length in a slight turn to the right. With her right hand she is touching the wrist of the left one. She wears a long blue coat with a large pelerine and with white cuffs. The wavy lower edge of the pelerine is decorated with two black bands. A row of small buttons can be seen on the right shoulder of the maid. A piece of a red checked skirt is protruding from-under the coat. On her legs the maid is wearing felt boots. The figure is drawn in a deliberately primitive manner. The outlines of the body and all particularities are shown by means of a single line. The paint is simply filling the spaces between the lines.

36 Summary and Remarks
The play "The Quality of Judgement" by D.Bergelson (originally "Midat ha din" - a cabalistic hebrew term denoting a quality of Divine Judgement) was put on stage in Moscow GOSSET (State Hebrew Theatre) by S.Michoels in 1933. The performance was dedicated to the 16th anniversary of the October revolution. The action of the play takes place in a schtetl in the period of the Civil war (1918-1921), where the representative of ChK (Commitee Extraordinary) Philippov is establishing new order. It is unknown for what character of the play this design was created.
