p. 23 is composed of two pictures. The upper colored is devided into three sections. The central arched section represents prayers at the western wall and has a decorated arch above. On the right side of the central section the prophet Jeramiah is depicted (see Ma. 1053.43), and on the left side the Massiah (Ma. 1053. 44) is depicted. At the foreground of the central section a man, wearing a blue robe, is leaning his face against the wall. Beside him, a brown robed man is sitting, leaned against the wall with his back and reading. Next to him a man, wearing a green robe and a fur hat, is standing against the wall, spreading his hands. Far behind them, at the wall, is a line of praying people. At the left foreground two praying men are sitting on the ground, one of them is reading a book. The Western Wall is depicted with huge stones and grass among them. The black, arched picture frame is surrounded by a silver stripe. It depicts two griphons below a medalion, to the arch's side, on a vegetal background. A couple under a palm-tree is painted in chiaroschuro on the right medalion. the woman is sitting on the left while the man is standing on the right. The left medalion represents a couple under a tree, turning their backs to each other. Below every medalion are the colunms with the Massiah and Jeramiah reliefs. The Hebrew title, in block silver letters at the center of the arch reads: "הכותל המערבי" "The Western Wall" Between the colunms the text, Lam. 5:17-18, is written in Hebrew, block silver letters on a black background: "על זה היה דוה לבנו על אלה חשכו עינינו על הר ציון ששמם שועלים הלכו בו" "For this our heart is faint; for these things are eyes are dim. Cause of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the fox walk upon it". The lower picture is a b/w reproduction of the caravan register (third register) from the cover picture (oc. 1053.3). The Messiah, on the left, is depicted in a relief too. He is an old man with a long beard and robe. His hands are chained. The word "The Messiah" is inscribed in Hebrew block letters below his "relief": "המשיח" "The Messiah"
